(Avak waits impatiently for the requested reinforcements to arrive)

(Soon, the doors open and a Kraahu, followed by three armored figures strode in)

Avak:”There you are! your late…”

Avak:”Are you sure you can handle this? those guys are pretty tough.”

???:”Nonsense, we are toa…”

???:”…And when we work together, no evil can stand against us!”

Makuta2:”Alright Ekimu said he was going to stay back and wait for Artahka, his loss…”

Makuta2:”That means we can scout on ahead and clear a path to the top.”

Makuta2:”now Dameta’s skill in combat im certain of, but you…you I’ve only heard of are your fighting skills…adequate?”

Sylus:”Me? oh ho ho yeah i’m ready for this, question is…are you?”

Makuta2:”I had hoped that spending time with my brother would teach you humility, I see that has done nothing but convert that into reckless enthusiasm, a dangerous trait but one that could be useful.”

Sylus:”So anyways, your Makuta huh? why did you turn on Karzahni?”

Sylus:”I mean he would have granted your wish, why turn it down?”

Makuta2:”Because wishes can be bent into something else if you do not word them carefully. I have seen it firsthand how He twists their words into his own favor, and I do not wish to find out how he will twist mine.”

Makuta2:”Now enough talk, we must reach the top of-”

(A deafening boom sounds from the upper levels, causing bridges and scaffoldings to collapse the one they are on shudders from the explosion)

(Dameta, being top-heavy and unaccustomed to the terrain, staggers to regain his footing, but he loses his balance and falls off the platform…)

(Through lightning fast reflexes, Sylus is able to catch the Toa of Iron by his foot, but is unable to support his weight and soon begins to slide off the edge)

(Until Makuta, using his strength to catch both toa)

Sylus:”Um hey thanks but…”

…could you pull us up now please? he’s really really heavy.”

(“I heard that, and your hands are cold too.” Dameta complained)

Sylus:”Hey thanks looked like a long way down you know?”

Makuta2:”Like I said, reckless enthusiasm, how are you still alive is beyond me.”

(The trio make there way towards a stairway, it looked to be for beings larger than them and had not been used in centuries.)

(“So far so good, this seems like it’s going to be a smooth trip-)

???:”Not so fast monsters!”

???:”Your days of plaguing this land are over!”

“The Mask of Shadows has had several designs over time but were never quite the same individually, the late Makuta Teridax and Makuta Icarax wore the Mask of Shadows before it was destroyed alongside it’s previous owner. This Mask of Shadows is not that, while the original mask had much more sinister traits (fear, anger, weakness etc.) this mask in comparison is a pale imitation, the mask grants it’s wearer the power to travel long distances through shadows and darkness where ever it may be found, the effects of shadow travel can be shared to others within contact but poses a risks from nausea to death, and in some rare occasions some don’t come out the other side at all.”

“There are a thousand ways I could destroy you right now, and 941 of them hurt.”-Makuta Teridax

???:”You will go no further evildoers!”

Tahu2:”For we The Toa Okoto will avenge our fallen brothers and sister, and restore the peace!”

Tahu:”Onua! Pohatu! you take care of Makuta and the silver one, the red one is mine.”

Sylus:”C’mon we don’t have time for this we need to get to the top!

Pohatu2:”Not so fast friend, looks like your in a bit of a rock and a hard place.”

Makuta2:”The top of the stairway is just ahead we need to-”

(Onua comes crashing down on the two, luckly, Makuta was able to place himself between him and Dameta)

Makuta2:”(grrrmphh) GO! i’ll hold him off!”

Tahu2:”You are a Toa like me…yet you serve that…that criminal, why?”

Tahu2:”No, your corrupted, Makuta did this do you didn’t he?”

Tahu2:”Worry not brother.”

Tahu2:”We will banish Makuta from whence he came.”

Tahu2:”and then you and your fellow brother…”

Pohatu2:”Will”

Onua2:”find.”

Tahu2:”Salvation!”

Tahu2:”Makuta’s grip over you could be broken fire brother.”

(“Im a Toa of Iron not fire.” Dameta thought frustrated at how everyone assumed he was a fire toa from his armor color)

Tahu2:”I can see great potential in you…once Makuta is defeated…”

(Dameta activates the Emberstone Maul and releases steam into the air hoping to disorient his opponent with sweltering heat)

Tahu2:”Of course once the both of you are free we might need to… change some things…”

Tahu2:”Starting with that mask…”

(Tahu releases a burst of flame from his swords, the pulse blows Dameta back)

(He lands on his back hard the maul clattering out of his hands he could feel his shoulder armor crack from the impact)

(Wounded, Dameta reaches over for his weapon…)

Tahu2:”Im sorry brother but I can’t let you keep fighting.”

Tahu2:”Master Karzahni said that Makuta had corrupted some toa to rise against him, and that only way to free them was to give them these special masks.”

Tahu2:”Besides you’ll look so much better wearing one of th-”

(The toa of fire is cut off by a boomerang streaking towards him from the sky, his quick reflexes deflect the projectile back to it’s thrower)

Sylus:”Why don’t you pick someone who’s stonger than you huh?”

(Sylus swoops down on the boomerangs he took from the incapacitated Pohatu below and delivered a mighty blow to the brainwashed toa of fire’s head)

Sylus:”I mean come on if your gonna fight any one of us at least let it be me.”

Tahu2:”And who might you be brother?”

Sylus:”Sylus toa of justice coming to beat your sorry hide, and I ain’t your ‘brother’ either.”

Sylus:”Hey red, go help the Hot Topic wannabe down there, I’ll take care of this clown.”

(“Red? heh thats a new one.”)

(“Guess I should start calling you something too huh?)

Makuta2:”No! get back! this one is too strong for you.”

(Onua’s hammer suddenly flips around to reveal a gatling gun that soon peppers the wall behind Dameta)

(Dameta soon loses balance and falls a lower level)

(Quickly the Toa of Iron stands up and spots the tip of the drill end for Onua’s hammer just within reach…)

(The earth toa has not noticed him yet and if he times this right, he could use his mask power to overcharge that hammer and destroy it)

(all he needed to do was touch it once…)

(“Buddy, you just made beating you all that easier.”)

(Makuta lies beaten and brusied his armor is cracked on one shoulder and a gaping hole in the other)

(Onua prepares to swing his mallet directly at Makuta’s mask, his eyes gleaming through the skull spider’s eye sockets)

(All of a sudden mid swing, the weapon’s head detonates in a flash of energy blinding the earth toa, his eyes not accustomed to bright lights)

(Makuta gathers all the strength he has left, lifting his badly damaged arm to strike back)

(Until Dameta, taking advantage of the moment places the corrupted toa in a choke hold)

(Makuta gets up and approaches the Onua…)

(…And in one swift movement grasps the Skull Spider and tears it off the toa’s face)

Makuta2:”Good riddance to bad rubbish, you thought I controlled these two? even with those skull spiders I gave you your still as shallow as ever.”

Makuta2:”Begone.”

(With a shove Matuta pushes Onua’s unconscious body down the stairs)

(Pohatu, who had just begun his climb back up the stairs to rejoin the fight looked up too late, to see Onua’s body crash into him)

(The two stumbled down the staircase, Pohatu’s Skull spider has one of its legs caught on a ledge and is ripped off in the fall, both of the toa land in a heap at the bottom)

(Makuta and Dameta reach the top of the stairs only to be met with Sylus breaking Tahu’s sword with his own)

Tahu2:”-the city beyond this gate is vast, you’ll never get to it’s center.”

Tahu2:”And even if you did…He’ll kill you. He’ll kill you all!”

Sylus:”What Karzahni? we can handle him.”

Tahu2:”I wasn’t talking about Karzahni, only a true toa can stand a chance, and you? your. no. toa. your not a toa you hear me!? YOUR A-”

Sylus:”Shut up and piss off already…”

“A prototype mask that Artakha made in blueprints but never created, this mask would have granted the wearer knowledge on how to operate any vehicle as long as it was completely inorganic. while it never made it off the cutting room floor in the main universe, Sylus took these blueprints with him on his adventures, only using them in the Hero Factory dimension when he used the assembly tower to create this mask out of spare parts, the creation process overloaded the core of the building and caused it to have a nuclear meltdown, Sylus used the mask to steal a vehicle and escape before the building imploded, the nuclear fallout taking hundreds of lives hero, villain and civilian alike, a entire civilization brought to ruin over one mask.”

“Equip with the best helmets, armor and weapons, and powering up their mighty hero cores, heros’ are put through rigorous training in preparation for the call of duty”-Hero Factory propaganda commercial

Ekimu:”These machines…they look advanced, and it looks like someone was watching us through this thing too.”

(A door opens in the far corner of the room, Ekimu turns readying his weapon for more reinforcements, but what he sees brings relief instead)

Ekimu:”Well…to think I would see you again master.”

Artakha:”Did you think I would leave my apprentice alone to fend off my brother by himself?”

Ekimu:”No of course not, if anything, seeing you is a welcoming sight. How did you get here anyways?”

Artakha:”A friend, you may be familiar with him and another, I do not know him but I can feel him here.

Ekimu:”You mean Toa Sylus? or Toa Dameta?”

Artakha:”Toa Dameta, we found him…wait.”

Artakha:”You…I know your there witch, come out and face judgement!”

Tuyet:”Judgement? if anyone should be judged it. should. be. you.”

Ekimu:”What do you want Tuyet? how are you still-”

Tuyet:”Speak only when spoken to peasant, you aren’t worth my time.”

Tuyet:”Now you…I thought I made myself clear the last time we met, I kill you and I get my wish, but now? now I hear that not only are you still alive but that red primate is getting MY mask!”

Artakha:”It never belonged to you to begin with!”

Tuyet:”On the contrary It will belong to when Im done with you, your errand boy, Karzahni, everyone, especially that pathetic excuse for a toa Sylus.”

Artakha;”you leave Ekimu out of this!”

Tuyet;”And I will, perhaps I’ll let him be the first victim of my…”

Tuyet:”Rahkshi Hordika, ATTACK!!!”

Tuyet:”I said, ATTACK!!!”

Tuyet:”Why won’t you obey me?! you worthless failure of a…”

Tuyet:”Scrap heap…”

(The remains of the “Rahkshi Hordika” lies in a mess behind Tuyet, the top of it’s head is cleaved clean off, the Kraata torn from the skull)

Tuyet:”no.”

“NO!”

(Anguished screams)

(Standing where Tuyet stood, a hulking grotesque beast stood, it’s hide covered in sickly greenish blisters, jagged black and green bone jutting out of them, golden tusks curling upward from a very familiar mask, Tuyet, or what was left of her was torn in half a look of genuine horror fixed on her now lifeless face)

(the creature’s claws, slick with fluids from the mutant and the beasts latest victim, gleamed black like obsidian, it seem preoccupied with it’s latest kill before noticing the Architect and his assistant)

Artakha:”Mata nui protect us…Brother, what have you done?”

Ekimu:”Umarak, but he defeated by Toa Sylus how?”

Artakha:”It doesn’t matter how he came back, only that we put him down here and now.”

“The mundane looking Warran is more or less a traveling tool than a offensive one, the intended purpose of the mask was to replicate the abilities of the phase dragon, a rahi that could phase through walls with it’s speed alone, the fact that this mask was found by Dameta on the corpse of a toa of stone 12 feet inside a stone wall shows that wasn’t the case. though as the name suggests, the mask is better suited to delivering the punches when traditional force alone doesn’t cut it.”

“If Dameta was a toa of lightning and he used it…would it be called a ‘Thundercrash?”-Ekimu

“Please…that joke was terrible…stop.”-Sylus

(“I liked it though…”)-Dameta

“A true tactician always has a battle plan in case his main plan goes awry, the Lammen grants the wearer knowledge of the battlefield based on where they are and that user’s present knowledge, from tactical scenarios to enemy weak points this mask is a must have for any general who intends to win the next battle, Dameta recovered the mask from a paranoid toa of earth who was locked in a personal war with the Skrall, a race of warriors who wiped out his village long ago, said earth toa believed the toa of iron to be a Skrall infiltrator and attacked, this ordeal nearly cost Dameta his life but with some quick thinking he persuaded the militant toa to stand down in which after he was given the mask as a ‘badge of honor’ from the latter.”

(“If the great spirit had wanted you to live he would not have created me!”)-Unknown toa of earth

“The Mask of Exfiltration was not one mask but one that was mass produced by the Nyrah Ghosts of the Toa empire timeline before their untimely demise, this mask would gift it’s owner with insight of any structure they were in, the very reason that Tuyet had these particular masks destroyed. this mask was given to Sylus by that world’s Artakha this one has been scaled up to fit the head of a toa while the rest of the stock was made small enough to fit a matoran as to prevent anyone other then the Nyrah Ghosts from using them.”

“The masks were also ineffective outdoors and in large vast areas.”

“The only good Matoran is a obedient one, or a dead one.”-Tuyet

“ a modified version of the Axalara t9 configured into a motorcycle version for high speeds made by Ekimu, built with all terrain tires and lightweight but durable armor plating the Axalara T10 is ready to dominate the roads, however given it’s hasty assembly during which when Sylus and Ekimu were cornered by a rahkshi kaita vo, Ekimu used his mask of creation to create the vehicle, but without any weapons and a battery powered by the driver’s elemental energy. the vehicle is currently parked outside of Karzahni’s fortress.”

“Ever since Surge showed me what a Motorcycle was I’ve always dreamed of driving one…I would make one, but Master Artakha wouldn’t approve of me wasting resources for…entertainment purposes.”-Ekimu

“One of the six Piraka formerly, Avak and the other five Piraka were imprisoned on Daxia by the Order of Mata Nui, Later, they were visited by Karzahni who let himself be caught and imprisoned as well. The mad lord asked the six piraka if they would want a wish from him, only Avak was willing to take the offer out of desperation.(being stuck in a water tank with five other murderous Piraka after their unfortunate mutation from mutagenic water would do that) He wished not only to regain his old body back, but to kill the other five Skakdi in the cell with him. Karzahni did so, and in doing do the powers of the other five members were absorbed by Avak, the dark lord said he would let the traitorous Skakdi keep his power only if he pledged servitude to him and create the things he asked for which he has done to this day.”

“Can I get something to NOT fall apart…for five minutes?!”-Avak

“The Okoto team consisting of Tahu, Onua and Pohatu form the defense to The Silent City, a ancient city shrouded in a corrosive darkness that consume those that linger in it’s embrace, anyone looking to enter the city must go through them first. The toa of fire, Tahu carries magma great swords and controls the element of fire, Pohatu, toa of stone carries twin stone boomerangs that allow him to fly when worn on his feet, and Onua the toa of earth carries a drill hammer that can flip to reveal a blaster mounted on the back. each of these three toa all have been corrupted with a skull spider that Makuta made them wear long ago, while under Karzahni’s control the toa are under the impression that they are doing the right thing by stopping people from entering the dangerous depths of the city beyond…”

“While I cannot undo the damage I’ve done in the past, then I can at least do some good in the coming future…”-Makuta

“Rahkshi Kaita, when you hear the name do you imagine a hydra-like creature with the devastating power of a cyclone? or a towering warrior dual-wielding staffs? then this is neither of them…The Rahkshi kaita vo like the za variant has been modified by Makuta for improved performance such as vastly increased speed and the ability to see targets through walls, among these traits that this bizarre creature was given it was also granted a tuning staff mounted on the back which like the rest of the kaita, is also alive. this channels its already lethal energy blast into a much more dangerous explosion essentially turning this horse beast from a joke into a walking nuke, a fast moving…wall hacking…nuke.”

“[day 67 test 1, ‘adhesive treads’] tried to mount some of the new treads on the kaita vo rahkshi thinking with them they could climb and run on walls improving their already lethal abilities further.[result] several kaita stuck hanging on walls, took several hours to get them down, considering reducing adhesive on boots for future tests.”-Avak

“The Bakriis was a mask that once belonged to a sea creature capable of teleportation and a toa of water afterwards who terrorized the oceans surrounding the islands of stelt and daxia, the mask would show the wearer the locations of treasure and people as long as the user knew what it looked like, Dameta ended up on the water toa’s ship during his travels and fought and defeated her in a duel, as compensation, he took the mask as a prize.”

“Yar harrr! shiver me timbers and stuff am I right?”-Sylus imitating a pirate (“poorly”)

Karzahni:”Give it to me…”

Karzahni:”Your weapon…”

“GIVE.

(Sylus snaps back to reality)

Makuta2:”TO ME!”

Makuta2:” I can’t repair your weapon if you keep squirming around! stop. that.”

Makuta2:”And…done, finally

Makuta2:”Ok, now give me the other one and we can finish-”

(“No…”)

Makuta2:”Give it to me! stop resisting and let me help you!”

(Sylus gazes out at the horizon, the run down buildings, the vast rooftops, he had come so far since the beginning and now he was going to end it there too)

Sylus:”If I had elemental powers, what would they be? would I have the power fire to burn my enemies? water? ice even?”

Sylus:”Maybe I’ll get to try someday maybe not this universe or the next, but someday.”

Sylus:”One day I’ll have real toa powers like Toa Tahu, Lhikan, Matoro, or even red dude behind me, but for now I’ve gotta keep going for him, for-”

Sylus:”What is going on back there? can you keep it down?”

Makuta2:”Of course my apologies I only wanted to improve our friend’s armor, I only had the purest intentions in mind…”

Makuta2:”I would never try to stab him for any reason at all, isn’t that right Dameta? don’t say anything if you understand.”

(Bad touch…”)

Sylus:”(*Sigh*) at I’ve got friends, alright you can do this…”

Sylus:”Hey big red you gotta second?”

(“Yes tin man?”)

Sylus:”Or don’t say anything at all, cool cool.”

Sylus:”Yo Makuta think you can make us some stuff?”

Makuta2:”Of course, why do you ask?”

Sylus:”Cool sweet cause we’re gonna need those master craftsman skills for my plan on how to get up there.”

Sylus:”So you in?”

(Sylus raises his fist for a fist bump)

(“Ah screw it why the hell not.”)

Sylus:”C’mon you too big guy.”

Sylus:”Alright! teamwork makes the…makes the…”

(“Dreamwork?”)

Sylus:”C’mon a little help?”

(*internal sigh*)

Sylus:”So lets do it! so here’s the plan how do you feel about disguises?”

“The guardian of the mask of life, he exists only to protect he will challenge anyone regardless of good or evil to prove their worth. he was told that the mask of life was in Karzahni’s possession by Helryx and had stormed the fortress to get to it where he guards it to this day. Interestingly, Karzahni tried to offer the stoic warrior a wish, but he was adamantly refused, only focused on defending the mask of Life. his traits include shooting lasers and spinners from his lance, turning his body into pure light and creating light projections, and moving at high speeds, he was killed when he was brutally beaten to death by Sylus influenced by the Mask of Ferocity.”

“Even a master needs servants willing or not…”-A voice inside a box

Avak:”Gone? what do you mean he’s gone?

Tech support:”Uh yeah he just up and vanished, was mumbling something we couldn’t make out then he just…disappeared.”

Avak:”Disappeared…the armless AND legless magician just got up and, poof, gone?”

tech support:”…Yes?”

Avak:”Why do I even bother hiring you people if you can’t even keep an eye on one-”

(The blast doors behind Avak are thrown aside as a tall white and grey figure crashes through)

Ekimu:”Don’t worry Master Artakha, I will hold him off!”

Artakha:”(To himself)At this rate that monster is going to rip him to shreds, but nothing we do can harm it…unless.”

(Avak is inching his way towards the exit when…)

Artakha:”You, Skakdi, come here I need your help.”

(…He flinches for a second then slowly turns to the mask maker)

Avak:”W-what do you want? can’t you see I’m doing what any logical person would do?”

Artakha:”Then maybe this will change your mind…”

Ekimu:”Back monster! We banished you once and that is where you will-”

(Ekimu knocks Umarak’s clawed hand away, strange black oily fluids splatter on the crystal mallet)

(Umarak, in one swift movement grabs onto Ekimu’s shield and tears it away)

(It may have been a trick of the eyes but Ekimu could vaguely make out what looked like a grin on the abominations face for a second)

(The beast turned to face Ekimu it’s eyes lock with his and a wave of recognition washed over the putrid golden mask, clearly it remembered the pain, the humiliation from way back)

(…and clearly now, it was time to return the favor)

(A cord linked to the wall suddenly unhooked itself showering the lab with sparks, it then wrapped itself around the Destroyer’s arm)

(Umarak, surprised at this struggled to free himself but found himself lifted off his feet)

(As the cord wrapped itself into the wall it tightened arond the beasts wrist, no amount of strength could break these bonds)

(Suddenly, another cord shot out and binded itself to his other arm, Umarak lets out a howl of frustration)

(After a while the monster exhausted from his efforts stops moving)

Ekimu:”But how did? what? where did?”

Artakha:”Excellent work Avak, you may proceed.”

Avak:”…

Ekimu:”Huh…well, that’s convenient.”

Ekimu:”But, how did you…”

Artakha:”Let’s just say I ‘have a certain way around people.’His heart was not true to my brother’s wishes.”

Artakha:”Speaking of which, we must press onward if we are to stop him.”

Ekimu:”Ok wait up for me I’ll be…right behind…what’s this?”

(Ekimu notices a passage behind some containers)

Ekimu:”This must have been unsealed during the battle, but why would this be sealed off in the first place?”

(Upon entering Ekimu comes upon a massive room it looks like it hasn’t been used it centuries)

Ekimu:”An old computer? it looks like its still operational…”

Ekimu:”Looks like old blueprints, but why would someone just abandon these-”

(A schematic, bearing what appears to be a humanoid machine fills the old screen bearing a resemblance to a familiar face and a signature that was all too familiar…)

Ekimu:”What is this?! no. no!”

Ekimu:”Sylus and the others…they’re in grave danger!”

(Ekimu bolts past Avak who strangely has not moved since the battle ended, he does not acknowledge Ekimu)

Ekimu:”The others! they need to know!”

“Most creatures like the gate guardian would be ridiculed for its small stature and silly design, those same people who think that clearly do not recognize the danger that it possess, while the gate guardian appears shorter than a average toa that is because the one seen here is not real. The real gate guardian is a colossal beast that is invisible to the naked eye, many exhaust themselves trying to beat the illusion, Karzahni has one guarding his castle and has it outfitted with extra armor and extra weapons.”

“And everyone wonders why no one gets into my castle…actually everyone gets in, just not in one piece.”-Karzahni

(“Screw this thing.”)-Dameta
