PSYCHO LEGIONS
THE RADICALS: The Nuclear Option is the Best Option
The beliefs and doctrine of this legion are as extreme as their namesake implies. While many Psycho Legions have relegated the existence of green lasers to the status of myth, The Radicals have devoted their own existence to the refinement and use of this holy hue in the annihilation of the alien and the heretic. They believe that Space King will return only once his sons have proven their enlightenment by bathing the universe in the verdant glow of human dominance. To this end, the legion’s Imaginators have incorporated various radioactive materials into their weapons and wargear. Though they have yet to devise a formula to achieve the intended shade, the Radicals claim to have developed a “very, very, very, light green” energy. Any claim that this color is in fact yellow is heresy and will be punished as such.
What cannot be brought into question is the effectiveness of these instruments of destruction. A single blow from one of the legion’s Rad Weapons is more than enough to induce a toxemia so potent as to make a follow-through gratuitous, though this hardly prevents these Psycho Warriors from indulging such an excess. However, such an upgrade is hardly without cost. If one were to ask a Radical about the yellow, diagonal stripes that adorn their weapons and psycho armor, they would reply that “hazard stripes are totally awesome”. As true as such a statement may be, it would only serve to disguise the legion’s heinous secret.
These stripes were meant to serve as a warning to individual Radicals and any who would join them in battle. The hazardous cocktail that empowers the legion’s gear is as toxic as it is poorly understood. This ignorance has left their psycho armor bereft of any semblance of proper shielding, resulting in a plethora of negative effects, the most notable of these being: organ failure, limb loss, and sallow, luminescent skin which is perceived as a blessing from Space King. The only part of Psycho Warrior physiology that has remained unaffected are the holy globules, which are protected only by the hyper-durable shielding already present in the cod-plate.
Rather than confront the consequences of their rash innovation, The Radicals mask their insecurity beneath a cavalier sense of bravado. Any parts of the body that are lost due to radiation are replaced with cybernetic equivalents. To justify their above-average intake of prosthetics, the legion makes regular use of high-yield explosives and thrust themselves headlong into the thick of combat. This practice has also created a metric by which to measure the age and/or rank of an individual Radical. As side effects only manifest from prolonged exposure to their “green” energy, a Psycho Warrior who has recently be resurrected will posses very few, if any modifications. Conversely, an older Psycho Warrior is often more machine than man. This is plainly seen in the difference between Imaginators and Captains.
As is with every Psycho Legion, the duty of the Captain is to provide rigid order to those under his command, but those of The Radicals have a secondary duty. The Radicals hold innovation above all else, not only to master the secrets of green energy, but to develop a safer means of using it. As such, the legion possesses an unusually high volume of Imaginators, each with their own manic idea of perfecting themselves and their legion. Their unifying trait, is that they have little-to-no self control, and will therefore ignore concepts such as personal safety when devising and implementing weapons and tactics to combat situations. Ironically, the repeated, unintentional suicides and subsequent resurrections that invariably result from these hairbrained schemes leave the Radical Imaginators with very few modifications beyond those that are necessary. It is therefore paramount that Captains enforce a heaping dose of restraint on their assigned Imaginators, regularly calling out their exercises in stupidity for what they are.
To aid in this endeavor, each Captain is outfitted with a suite of cybernetic augmentations, with their ears being replaced with hyper-sensitive auditory receptors that have been specially tuned to detect the retarded giggling of an overzealous Imaginator. Their optics are equally enhanced with multi-spectrum scanners to sniff out any concealed devices. Lastly, their mouths are replaced with max output speakers, not only to be heard over the din of combat, but also to leave no doubt as to whether their orders are being ignored.
